The greatest gift you can give your child

Look look!

Is to believe in yourself...

Not be absorbed in yourself...

Or think only of yourself...

Or sacrifice yourself...

But to be confident as a mom (even when you don't feel it), and to try your best to stay centered in the fact that you are truly trying to do what's best for your child and getting better all the time...

Just as every child is different, so is every mom...  And the one thing I always focused on was the desire to be the best mom I could be... for MY child, not someone else's...

Part of that means becoming the best person you can be, for yourself...

And learning to balance the two...

Every child deserves a mom that's fabulous...

So be fabulous!

(note - This post was written mother's day morning but just as I was about to preview and post my door opened and my family burst in and I completely forgot about it for the rest of the day.  And isn't that how it should be?)

Happy Mom & Babe Day!!

With my beautiful baby...

Every year on April 6th my daughter and I celebrate our very own holiday...  We take the whole day (or sometimes a whole weekend) and just enjoy being together, doing whatever we want to do... This usually involves shopping for shoes...  Or traveling someplace interesting (to shop for shoes we can't get at home)... Or baking in our jammies...

This year we shopped for shoes AND baked blueberry pie AND played with new baby kitties...

Dive Bomb

This year my baby said Mom & Babe day was her favorite holiday...

I am unable to throw away a Crayon...

Day 12 - Caught you yawning

Not one single broken Crayon...

Bits of paper, little cardboard games from kid's meals, dried up playdoh yes...  Stickers (not stuck to anything) old markers, stamp pads with no ink, a broken pair of plastic scissors...

But not Crayons... not one...

And not anything with 'SarahC.' taped to it... or little bits of paper with childish handwriting, or homemade toys made of anything...

Nothing that conjures up memories of a 3 year old, 4 year old, 5 year old... Nothing that recalls to me tiny hands twining in my hair (even though almost 20 year old fingers still twine in my hair whenever their owner sits still for a minute) or the feel of a little arm around my neck...

(The homemade paper pin-on badge that says 'I am 6 today' made me cry too)

How can you throw away a memory...

You'll never get it back...
